In reply to Daron. Since you didn't use the same ingredients called for in the recipe it may have effected the final texture. It should still work though!

Why did my liquid laundry soap turn to gel the only thing I done different from the recipe was the bar soap I used was Zote but my entire 5 gallon bucket is 100% gel.
I did use my hand to try and break it up it kind of started to re-liquify but it’s kind of a mess.
Any thoughts what did I do wrong

For some reason it’s not fully dissolved in water. There is some powder that stays in the water. It might damage the pump.

– your ratios for dry and liquid are not the same. why should it take twice the washing soda and borax to make the liquid recipe?
– why would you get so many more washes using the liquid recipe?
– based on cost of powdered detergent at the time they quit selling it your dry recipe costs more than twice the price (even without amazon’s bloated prices). castile soap is not cheap!

I’m going to make this and happen to have liquid Castile soap on hand. Do you know the ratio I would use for that instead of the shredded kind?

In reply to Debbie. Different countries ban different substances (including natural ones), but it may not always be the best action. For example, the herb ashwaganda is banned in Denmark.

The water here is very hard. Can I still use the powder detergent ? Do I need to add anything to counter the hard water?

In reply to Melanie. I do the same thing w my laundry but also add a splash of ammonia to the soap. Love the smell of clean, crisp cotton!
