Are seeking health, and other vitamin d3 in drop form, synthetic? Do you need to take a vitamin d that says the words whole food or plant based? I mean how do they extract the vitamin d from lanolin and hasn’t it got chemicals like sheep dip in it? I’d love any help on this as there are so many products and I’ve not idea which are the safe ones.

May I suggest that you add some of the recent research about Covid19 and D? It’s so important. The cut off for effective blood level is 30 ng/ml in these papers, but your suggested levels are even better. My husband and I take 5000 IU/day and I get lots of sun in the summer. My levels were 47 ng/ml and his were only 26 ng/ml – too low. So you are right about it varying a lot, depending on the individual. Obesity, skin color and age are the risk factors. According to CDC numbers, most people in this country are below 30 ng/ml, at higher risk of severe Covid, cancer and other effects you mention. Thanks for getting this info out!

That’s really tough. i’d recommend working with a good functional medicine doctor but I personally opt to get Vitamin D from the sun whenever possible.

I eat a Vegan diet but more importantly I am allergic to fish, eggs and wool. My test results showed that I was very low in Vitamin D. I did some research and found a supplement that was made from algae but I am allergic to that as well. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for good quality supplements for someone who has a lot of food allergies and intolerances.

I know the exact amount varies from person to person, but isn’t there a ratio of vitamin A to vitamin D that should be taken into consideration? It may only pertain to fish oils when looking for the amount of A and D that they offer (I think it may have been your post about the FCLO that has the information I remember reading) but I wasn’t sure if there was a ratio that I should aim for.

I thought I remembered a post where you discussed this, but I can’t seem to find it. I believe I have a cavity and I would like to attempt to heal it rather than let the dentist immediately drill into it. From what I’m gathering, vitamin A is necessary for vitamin D absorption.

What do you suggest for newborns? I’m a mom with a newborn who is not particularly excited about giving my child vitamin D drops (which we know, contain other ingredients).

Is it too early to have a newborn in the sunlight, she is about 3 weeks old?

I asked my doctor if I could get a D3 test and shockingly, he agreed to order a D3 blood test. The order says it’s non fasting.

Does anyone know if I can go ahead and take my supplements that morning which include D3 before I get the blood test done or should I wait till after?
