Yes, they stay in the marinade in the fridge. And you can use the marinade as a seasoning/sauce, but it may not work to marinade more food if it has food particles in it from the egg.

It should work just fine for a fruit pie. You may need to blind bake the bottom crust for a few minutes first. I use my fingers to spread the crust into the pie plate and up the sides and then do a crumble topping, but you could also use crust for the top.

I just started using this recipe as a base to experiment with. I do it in half batches adding 6 drops of vitamin E oil and 1/4 teaspoon local honey. For my latest batch I infused chamomile into the coconut oil before making the balm and am really happy with the result. As someone who typically dislikes chapsticks and lip balms because I’m very sensitive to texture, I’m extremely happy with the consistency of this lip balm as it’s not too oily and lasts for a decent amount of time.
