I have been doing this for years and it all works. It is not about losing weight, it is about gaining health. If you give your body the fuel it needs to operate at its best, it will settle at its own ideal weight. I have always listened to what my body was asking for, whether that was more protein, more sleep, or more activity. My activity was always gentle: walking, swimming, riding a bike, horseback riding, canoeing, stretching, lifting light weights, skating etc. Never anything that was stressful on the joints, but got my heart rate up some for about 45 min to an hour a day. I always chose 100% organic, sustainably raised, regenerative soil practices and as local as possible. I am outside for at least a few hours a day, even when it is -30 C and, of course, longer in the warmer months. I am regularly checked for the nutrient levels in my body and will supplement if needed for as long as needed. What most don’t understand is that the type of food matters as much as the quantity. Is that chicken drumstick from a certified organic chicken cooked at home with organic animal fats or from a conventional, ultra processed grocery isle or fast food restaurant? One increases health, the other decreases health. I also experimented to see what worked best for me and went with that. Never counted calories or deprived myself. I just didn’t like those ultra processed foods and now I know my body was trying to tell me it was because the toxins in those foods were causing my digestive issues that are long gone – yay! Thank you for sharing your story and for helping the world become a much more knowledgeable and healthy place. We need more like you!
